Dirk joined us in 2005, as an exciting young Ster Stallion
who had recently become in Holland; The Top Scoring Stallion in the ABFP tests for ALL
Friesian Stallions tested in 2004.
Held under the auspices of the studbook (KFPS) for young stallions 3 to 5 years, the ABFP
test is a 4 ½ week training and evaluation process.
Purposely designed to show a young horses aptitude/talent and then ability.
His scores were impressive; and are still hard to beat. His Score 85.5 points!
Over the time since, only a handful of Studbook stallions have achieved the same or surpassed;
No other Permited Stallion in Australasia has topped his ABFP score.....Even 8 years down the track. !!
A two page article was dedicated to him in the Phryso (worldwide studbook magazine) in March 2005.
The Heading: “Dirk P van d’Oerte ABFP – topper 2004”.

Dirk was a 1st premie foal; and awarded the best colt foal at Vries foal day. He went through the stallion selection process to become Studbook status, as all Permited Ster stallions in Australasia have.
Dirk stems from the fairly young Stam line 145. His grand-dam being full sister to the dam of studbook stallion Onne 376.
Dirk was competed in harness in Holland in the categories of best harness horse (geldings stallions) and was always well placed and in NZ also competed well in dressage. Through a 3 months dressage series he also became the “Topper”. His 6 starts...for 4x 1st and 2x placings, secured this.
Dirk became Ster in 2004, and was granted a breeding permit from Holland without question. He has since been inspected in NZ by the visiting Dutch Inspectors / judges from the studbook in 2006 and 2009. His Permit for Australasia remained.
Dirk has some super foals hat HE would be proud of. He has never crossbred. His pure foals on the ground are unique.
In 2010, we gelded Dirk. He achieved for us, what we purchased him for as a stallion, and he is part of our family. He was never purchased as a $$ value to earn his keep standing at stud.
We have frozen his semen for future use.
No matter if he is a stallion, or now a gelding. He is still this very special Friesian, with a Great Temperament, Great Presence, Outstanding Movement....and a HUGE HEART.
